Make a Video Banner Ad in Wildform Flair
Top
Introduction
Do you want to create attention grabbing Flash banners without knowing Flash? Creating Flash banners is easy! This tutorial takes you through the steps of making an interactive Flash banner with video.
Top
Create a new project
From the start menu select Create New Project. Label it “Make A Video Banner”.
Top
Set the dimensions of your project file
For this project, set the dimensions of the project to the dimensions of a conventional banner ad – 468x60 in the Project Toolbar (Under the View -> Toolbars menu).
The dimensions of your project have now changed.
Top
Change the background color of your project
Now, let's change the background color of the project to black. This can be done in a number of ways. One way is to select the Master Slide in the Slide Navigation view. In the Standard Toolbar, select the color fill icon and choose the color black from the dropdown menu.
Since we have selected the Master Slide, every slide we create in your project will also have a black background.

Importing a logo
Let's return to Slide 1 and import a Wildform logo, which is a Flash (swf) file.

Notice that the imported file is larger than the project dimensions. Because Flash files are vector based, we can scale this file without losing any resolution. To scale this file and maintain the same proportion of the dimensions, click on the file, then hold down the shift key on your keyboard and drag the file to the size you want (holding the shift key causes the file to scale proportionally).
To preview the file, select a play preview button in the Preview Controls.
To continue creating the file, return to edit mode by clicking on the Stop button in the Preview Palette.

Importing a video
To import a video, under the File menu go to the Import File.
Next we will select the video file to import.
Because the video in the banner ad will be small, we will select a narrowband preset. Select 56k modem video swf preset.
Now, we will go to the Video/Audio tab. In the Output video dimensions, click the Constrain proportions button. Then click the Video size and SWF boxes and change the height of your output file to 60. We are selecting 60 because that is the height of our project file.
Return to the File menu and click the "Encode & Insert" button in the File tab.

Let's drag the encoded video file to the right side of your banner.

Creating animated text
Now, we will add some animated text to the banner.

Under the Tools menu, let's select "Create Text Effect"
The Create Text Effect window appears.
Now we will enter the following text in the text field: "Create Flash, video & presentation software"
Next, we will select an effect. In this case, we will select the "Diffuse Light 1" effect located in the Fades folder. Let's preview the file in the preview window by checking the Fit preview to window box above the effects window.
Next we will change the font and the font size of the effect. To change the Font click on the Font button to bring up the Font box. We will select Tahoma font in size 14, bold and italic.
Now we will change the color of the text and background. Click on the Background Fill box in the Movie section and change the color to black.
Click on the Fill box and change the color to white. Now, click the Save & Replace button and close the Create Text Effect window.

We will place the effect wherever we want it on the project.

Click the Play Preview button to review.

Adding audio to your banner
To add audio, let's return to the Import File under the File menu and select an audio file. The Import Video/Audio/Images window comes up. Select an Audio Only Flash SWF preset. Click Encode & Insert. Our audio file will now be converted to the Flash format.
Close the Import window.

The audio file now appears on the timeline. Click Play Preview again to listen.

Moving your files on the timeline
To make your text effect begin after your audio, let's move our text effect on the timeline. Here, we will drag it to frame 30.
Now click play to review your work.
Top
Exporting your project
When we are finished with your project, we may export your file (File menu -> File Export).
Before quitting Wildform Flair let's save our Project. Saving our project file (.wpz file) saves all your project settings, so we can continue to work on our project at a later time.
